There's has to be something said about the beauty of a swan upon dark, inky black murky water. This was taken at the Melbourne Zoo and I don't think it was a proper exhibit, more like letting some of the birds have a wander and swim across the various patches of water that are located all around the zoo. Ripples created by the faint rain that threatened to hammer down when thunder struck scaring the baby elephants. I was prepared and brought my poncho from Seaworld in California and my boyfriend was smart and brought an umbrella which I'm sure he would have shared if I needed it. He got sick from that date because it was cold and windy and we decided to eat sandwiches and food we both brought from home while sitting in a low, fat branched tree. No one bothered to tell us of though and it was funny to watch children come towards us and climb the tree. Kids say some of the funniest things.

Vignette Canon A1 Film

Some of the photographs when they were developed look worse than the scanned film that I did up on the weekend but I have no idea what happened to the blue colour leak photograph at the bottom of this post since I haven't used a colour flash on this roll of film. Everything is a little vague and blurry but I love the photograph of my first Cocoa rabbit reaching up for a dandelion, the red balloon tangled in the haunted and bare branches of a tree in winter, the butterfly resting on a bed of blades of grass, my cameras sitting in a drawer at my desk at home, the roses at the very back of my yard that grew so tall and heavy they broke away from their trellis and the yellow daisies in our front yard outside the front door. Their all photographs of ordinary household things that mean a lot to me, but I think I should branch out and use a higher ISO film, the flash unit and have something exciting to photograph next.Wednesday, July 13, 2011

Mug-Shot
Maybe one of the only photographs that I took on holidays in America that can be considered funny and humorous. I have a thing with taking pictures of ordinary animals and birds. Since I don't have pets anymore (rest in peace) this has become slightly more problematic.
I was overly excited to see the way this turned out, the bird looking straight on towards me beak barely visible and in focus as well. Considering I was zoomed in and I don't have the steadiest of hands I was amazed.
I always feel that I have to include both photographs together since in one you can't see his beady little eyes or his beak. He looks rather proud and handsome don't you think?

Bird is the word
Sweet little guy spotted at the top of a hill in San Francisco as we were checking out everything around us and viewed all the neat little houses. Sporting a stripe down the middle of his head... I wonder now if this is some sort of punk bird that can't have a Mohawk because it's not very aerodynamic?

Feathered Rat
Even the pigeons in America are fat. Much fatter than the ones I remember seeing so often at primary school and to a lesser extent occasionally at my high school. Must be all those pop tarts, Twinkies, red vines, Dr Pepper and peanut butter cups these birds devour that gives them such a bulbous physique.

Punk Flamingoes
They're missing the chains, stud, leather jackets and moehawks but I love them anyway and accept them for who they are.

Gutterbird
When I get bored I take photos of the nearest birds I can find. There's a lot of photos of birds on my camera.

I'll love you at arms length
The king parrots aren't very nice to me and the minimal zoom on my camera, these were as close as I could get to the gorgeous couple. I love how they travel in pairs and they're in reverse colours; so cute. Oh and that they're coloured red and green! Christmas supporting, couples of birds that are in love. I wish they were nicer to me though.
